How Is LAFC Goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau Recovering From His Injury At MLS Cup?

Have you ever wondered how professional athletes heal from injuries and get back onto the field?

Have you ever wondered if they have the same fears and concerns that you or I may have?

Are professional athletes superhuman and that’s why they recover so quickly?

I hate to burst your bubble… but professional athletes like Max Crepeau are just like you and me.

If you watched the 2022 MLS Cup Championship game, you may have noticed Max was injured on a play and taken out of the match.

Right away, you may have felt really bad for him and the team.

Then your emotions went wild because LAFC (depending what team you are cheering for) won in amazing fashion.

While the team is celebrating the win for the days and weeks to follow, there is a reality that Max has to face with his recovery. The things he was used to doing on a normal basis were no more.

Imagine coming from the highs of being the starting goalkeeper in a championship game to having surgery the next day while the rest of your teammates and family are at the victory parade.

Imagine not being able to attend the World Cup with the Canada National Team, their first one in the last 26 years.

Bottom line… It’s Tough!

And I will say this again, Max is human just like you and me.

The emotions that come along with any significant injury are real. Not being able walk, get in and out of a car or carry your young daughter are rude aweakenings.

As a rehab professional, first and foremost is treating the “person” before the “injury”.

Next is partnering with the person in a physical and emotional journey which will hopefully have a lot more highs than lows.

Just wanted to say thank you to Max for not only being LAFC’s hero, but for sharing his experience for the entire world to see.
