Is Your Purse Giving You Neck, Back And Shoulder Pain?

If we look at just the average of 4-6 pounds that comes out to being about the weight of a half gallon of milk. If you are out for part of the day or even the majority of the day that weight will eventually wear on you and become challenging. If most people were told they need to carry around a half gallon or sometimes a full gallon of milk all day, most would probably say no way. Some would do it but would likely being in pain or discomfort by the end of the day.

Are Your Workouts Burning You Out? Mix It Up!

Are Your Workouts Burning You Out? Mix It Up!

Our athletes have begun to specialize at a younger and younger age. I often ask parents if their children play any other sports and many say that they focus on just one. This leads to an alarming number of repetitive movement injuries in our young athletes. Since no two sports are completely alike, children who participate in multiple sports learn to incorporate different movements, patterns that are inherent to each particular sport.

Basically they become more well rounded because they are required to use different skill sets. Children are also less likely to get burned out as frequently when they are doing a wide variety of activities. It really doesn't matter what the activity, just try to keep some variety in their programs.

Which Is The Best Mattress For Me?

Which Is The Best Mattress For Me?

One question we constantly get asked is “What is the best mattress for me and how should I sleep." Much like everything else in life there is not just one easy answer to fix all the world's problems. One of the biggest factors is individual comfort, that is because comfort plays a huge role in our lives and helps us decide to do or not to do something.

If we break down the 24 Hours of the day most people get around 8 hours of sleep. Some people might say they only get 6 hours on a good night which is still somewhat acceptable. So that means we spend 25%-33% of our lives sleeping most of which will be on a mattress.

Is Your "WHY" Enough Motivation To Get You Through To Your Goal?

Is Your "WHY" Enough Motivation To Get You Through To Your Goal?

"Why are we doing this coach?" Fetty asked me as he groaned while doubled over. He was on the last on a series of ten banded 50 yard pulls.

I asked him, "You tell me?"

What's the point of it all?

Why are we doing what we're doing?

These questions form the foundation or the backbone of any athlete’s or coach’s program. Much attention is given to program structure, sets, reps, cycles etc. Instagram and Facebook are littered with "how to videos" but very little on the "why's."

Deadlifting Will Destroy Your Back?

Deadlifting Will Destroy Your Back?

One of my clients recently told me that he will NEVER deadlift again. He said his past chiropractor and physical therapist essentially reamed him out when they found he had deadlifted with his personal trainer.

Let me just say that our words as health care practitioners can have an incredible impact for our clients. It's therefore our duty to continue to understand and master our craft, instead of just relying on what school thought us years ago. I can probably bet you money that neither of his former chiropractors or physical therapists knew how to properly hinge themselves.

How Are You Celebrating Your Athletes?

How Are You Celebrating Your Athletes?

The sun was at its hottest and most intense point in the afternoon sky and showed no signs of letting up soon. My butt was getting numb from sitting on concrete seats after only 40 mins. Welcome to a typical invitational high school track meet in So Cal. Needless to say I was ill prepared for the day's events. No hat, no cushion and no water. Still it didn't seem to really matter. It had been years since I had actually been to a meet and I had forgotten what it was like to be around young athletes and feeling that electricity in the air.
